This Is Our House: A Child-Centered Philosophy
Our House is the powerful central metaphor that the culture of Jeanine Schultz School is built upon. Students quickly learn that they control what occurs within their House (what’s inside of them). They learn that because they can control choices about how they think, feel and behave, they make an impact on the classroom and on the school itself and their lives.
A Philosophy Based on Your Child
The Jeanine Schultz School is dedicated to achieving the highest level of learning for all our students through a Child-Centered Approach. We value a safe, consistent, therapeutic environment for our students, which encourages positive, emotional and educational experiences while inspiring life-long living and learning. The teaching of core academics, morals, and ethics leads our students to become productive, responsible citizens. That is the outcome we aim for and that our students achieve.
We emphasize the vital importance of relationships in teaching, learning and therapeutic restoration. Everyone at the School is trained to offer our students a positive, meaningful emotional and educational experience as well as emotional support.
We believe that each student possesses innate value and dignity upon which we will never infringe. We have found that we have been able to help most students improve their emotional well-being—an outcome that often seems unreachable at the beginning of the placement process.
